Amiya Mallick wins relay silver in South Asian Games

Indian mens 4x100m relay team, featuring Odisha ace Amiya Kumar Mallick won the silver medal at the 13th South Asian Games at Pokhara Stadium in Pokhara, Nepal today. Other three runners of the Indian squad were: Harjit Singh, Pranav Kalappur and Gurindervir Singh.

The Indian team bagged silver medal with a timing of 0:39.97 seconds. The gold and bronze medals in the event were claimed by Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively.

Only two athletes from Odisha represented India in athletics discipline of the South Asian Games. Jauna Murmu, the other Odisha competitor, finished fifth in womens 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.41.

However, Dutee Chand and Srabani Nanda, the twop two women sprint stars of Odisha, chose to skip the Games. Amiya also participated in mens 100m sprint, but failed to win any medal.
